COMMERCIAL TRAILER INSPECTIONS

PART OF A COMPREHENSIVE PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

Managed Mobile offers comprehensive service for commercial trailer inspections to help businesses stay compliant with BIT and DOT regulatory requirements. For instance, the Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) Program requires that all commercial trucks and trailers operating in California that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or greater, must undergo a bumper to bumper safety inspection every 90 days. Similarly, any commercial truck or trailer operating intrastate in the U.S. that weighs more than 10,000 pounds or carries hazardous materials, regardless of weight, is required to have annual federal inspections as outlined by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).

BIT and DOT Safety Inspections are clearly defined. The “bumper to bumper trailer safety inspection” includes all major system components on a trailer, including:

Suspension
King Pin / Coupling Devices
Wheels, Hubs, Axles
Brake Components and Braking System
Frame and Support
Trailer Body
Lighting and Electrical
Tire Condition and Inflation

ACTIVE PLANNING AND MONITORING FOR BIT/DOT INSPECTIONS

When you become a Managed Mobile client, we’ll enroll your fleet into proactive monitoring for all BIT and DOT Trailer Inspections. We deploy state-of-the-art enterprise asset maintenance management software that is designed around the Vehicle Maintenance Repair Standard (VMRS) protocol to ensure that every required inspection for each fleet unit is “micro-managed.” In other words, we’ll do all the worrying for you and make sure that every commercial truck and trailer in your fleet is inspected when needed.

Perhaps the most important feature of working with us is that we’ll do all inspections on-site – wherever your trailer or vehicle is located.  We’ll also schedule commercial trailer inspections during regular down times, when your business isn’t using them.  For instance, we schedule trailer inspections from early morning (6AM) to late afternoon/evenings during weekdays and during the day on Saturdays, whatever it takes.  Like all our other services, we’ll adjust the service window to accommodate your regular schedule.  We manage our schedule to minimize or eliminate vehicle downtime for routine scheduled safety inspections when your vehicles and trailers should be on the road during business hours.

STAY COMPLIANT AND KEEP YOUR FLEET WORKING WITH PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

Regular BIT/DOT inspections have a very important benefit.  In addition to meeting compliance requirements, our proactive tracking, management, and scheduling of commercial trailer inspections, helps minimize or eliminate roadside breakdowns, unexpected problems between regular service intervals, and other costly repairs.

When we perform BIT and DOT Safety Inspections for your commercial trailers, we’ll uncover problems before they become breakdowns.  In other words, as you stay compliant with 90-day State (BIT) or annual Federal (DOT) Inspection programs, we’re also implementing a strong preventative maintenance program for your fleet.

That’s why we’ll enroll you in our customized Fleet Service Plan™ (FSP). Regular BIT/DOT safety inspections are a key part of what we’ll do for the commercial trailers in your fleet. In fact, a fully customized FSP will be your path to a safe, compliant, reliable fleet. Your FSP will be designed around your business and the way you use your fleet. It’ll be our job to match managed maintenance services according to the use and application of your vehicles and the cost parameters of your budget. When we craft an FSP for your fleet, Managed Mobile fleet professionals will not only conduct BIT and DOT Safety Inspections, but we’ll manage and track regular preventative maintenance schedules to ensure you’re your fleet is road-ready 365/24/7!
