COMMERCIAL TRUCK INSPECTIONS

COMPREHENSIVE AND PROFESSIONAL COMMERCIAL TRUCK AND TRAILER INSPECTIONS.

Managed Mobile performs comprehensive commercial truck and trailer inspections for compliance with Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements.

The Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) Program requires that all commercial vehicles domiciled and operating intrastate, or within California, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or greater, receive a bumper to bumper safety inspection, or BIT Inspection, every 90 days. This includes all motor trucks and trailers, as well as any vehicle, regardless of gross vehicle weight, if it hauls or carries hazardous materials.

The DOT Inspection Program requires that all commercial vehicles domiciled and operating both within California (Intrastate) and outside California (Interstate), with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or greater, receive a bumper to bumper safety inspection, or DOT Inspection, at least once every 365 days. This includes all motor trucks and trailers, as well as any vehicle, regardless of gross vehicle weight, if it hauls or carries hazardous materials.

MANAGED MOBILE MANAGES YOUR INSPECTIONS

A BIT Safety Inspection and/or DOT Safety Inspection is a bumper to bumper vehicle inspection of all major system components on a truck or trailer and identifies any worn or defective components.  Managed Mobile ensures that all system components are included:

  • Engine Components and Accessories
  • Cab, Safety Equipment, Registration
  • Suspension, Steering, Front End
  • Drive Train
  • Wheels, Hubs, Axles
  • Brake Components and Braking System
  • Frame and Support
  • Truck or Trailer Body
  • Lighting and Electrical
  • Tire Condition and Inflation

PERIODIC SAFETY INSPECTIONS FOR YOUR FLEET

Managed Mobile proactively monitors and tracks BIT and DOT Inspections based on time, 90 Days for BIT, and annually for DOT.  We employ an enterprise level, asset maintenance management software program which utilizes Vehicle Maintenance Repair Standard (VMRS) coding.  VMRS coding ensures that every required inspection for each fleet unit is “micro-managed” and that your vehicles receive the commercial truck inspection they need, when they need it.

In addition to critical compliance issues, proactive tracking, management, scheduling and performance of commercial truck and trailer inspections, such as BIT Safety Inspections and DOT Safety Inspections, helps to minimize or eliminate roadside breakdowns, unexpected problems between regular service intervals, and other costly repairs.  Managed Mobile will set up BIT Safety Inspection and DOT Safety Inspection intervals for your fleet based on the use and application of your vehicles.  Typically, vehicles are inspected and serviced at least once every 90 days to ensure compliance with State (BIT) or annually for Federal (DOT) Inspection programs.

BIT/DOT INSPECTIONS AT YOUR CONVENIENCE

Perhaps best of all, Managed Mobile can schedule regular commercial truck and trailer inspections for your fleet during down time, when your business isn’t using them.  We schedule truck and trailer inspections from early morning (6AM) to late afternoon/evenings during weekdays and during the day on Saturdays.  Managed Mobile’s service window and scheduling accommodates virtually every client’s schedule and allows us to minimize or eliminate vehicle downtime for routine scheduled BIT and DOT Safety Inspections.  Client’s love these options as it allows them to keep their trucks on the road during business hours.

INSPECTIONS TRACKED AND MANAGED IN YOUR FLEET SERVICE PLAN

All the necessary commercial truck and trailer safety inspections for your fleet are identified in a Fleet Service Plan™ (FSP).  A FSP is your path to a safe, compliant, reliable fleet. The FSP is a customized program which matches managed maintenance services according to the use and application of your vehicles and the cost parameters of your budget.  Critical components in every successful FSP are BIT Safety Inspections and DOT Safety Inspections.  Once we craft an FSP for your fleet, Managed Mobile fleet professionals manage and track your commercial vehicle inspections to help ensure they are performed on time, every time.
