COMMERCIAL TRUCK BIT INSPECTIONS

CALIFORNIA COMMERCIAL TRUCK AND TRAILER INSPECTIONS ARE PART OF A COMPREHENSIVE PROFESSIONALLY MANAGED PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

Managed Mobile performs comprehensive commercial truck and trailer inspections for compliance with the Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) regulatory requirements. When you’re a Managed Mobile client, we’ll proactively monitor and track your BIT Safety Inspections at the required 90 day intervals.  We deploy an enterprise level, asset maintenance management software program which utilizes Vehicle Maintenance Repair Standard (VMRS) coding that ensures every BIT Safety Inspection for each unit in your fleet is “micro-managed” to ensure compliance.  Your vehicles will receive the BIT Safety Inspection that they need, when they need it.

Best of all, your inspections will be conducted by professional technicians that have current and up-to-date training that includes our specific in-house technical programs, plus all OEM and industry certifications to perform BIT Safety Inspections.  Our certified technicians ensure commercial truck and trailer inspections are performed correctly, and according to FMCSA standards and requirements.

PLAY IT SAFE WITH PROFESSIONAL BIT INSPECTIONS

The BIT Program requires that all commercial vehicles domiciled and operating in California with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or greater receive a bumper to bumper safety inspection or BIT inspection every 90 days.  The State of California and the U.S. Department of Transportation defines a commercial motor vehicle as any self-propelled or towed vehicle used on a highway in interstate (between states) or intrastate (within a single state) in transporting passengers or property.

A BIT Safety Inspection is a bumper to bumper vehicle inspection of all major system components on a truck or trailer and identifies any worn or defective components.  These system components include:

  • Engine Components and Accessories
  • Cab, Safety Equipment, Registration
  • Suspension, Steering, Front End
  • Drive Train
  • Wheels, Hubs, Axles
  • Brake Components and Braking System
  • Frame and Support
  • Truck or Trailer Body
  • Lighting and Electrical
  • Tire Condition and Inflation

WE TAKE THE GUESSWORK OUT OF BIT INSPECTIONS

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is the enforcement agency for the BIT Program.  The BIT Program requires that a list of specific components on any commercial motor vehicle be inspected at least every 90 days, sometimes more frequently, if the use and application of the vehicle warrants it.  For example, vehicles hauling extremely heavy loads, or traveling extremely high mileage, may require inspections more often than every 90 days.

In addition to performing “Terminal Inspections” where a Motor Carrier Specialist Officer from the CHP comes to your place of business to audit maintenance and driver information, vehicles are subject to roadside inspections at weigh scales.  Both situations require that your vehicle be safe and compliant.  Managed Mobile will take the guesswork out of your BIT scheduling and compliance.

ROUTINE INSPECTIONS MEAN ROUTINE PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

An added benefit of routine BIT Safety Inspections is that, combined with regular oil and lube services, they add up to an excellent preventative maintenance program for your fleet. While we’re under your truck or trailer conducting safety inspections, we’ll also perform routine repairs to deal with issues, defects, and worn components that have been identified during the inspection. Managed Mobile technicians will inspect every aspect of your vehicle including all major vehicle systems such as engine, transmission, clutch, drive-line, differential, suspension, steering, axle/wheel end/hub, brakes, steering, electrical and electronic, air conditioning (HVAC), PTO, lift gate, and more.

All the required commercial truck and trailer safety inspections for your fleet will be specified in a customized Fleet Service Plan™ (FSP).  A FSP ensures a safe, compliant, reliable fleet. It’s a customized program that matches managed maintenance services according to the use and application of your vehicles and the cost parameters of your budget.  A critical component in every successful FSP is BIT Safety Inspections.  Once we craft an FSP for your fleet, Managed Mobile fleet professionals manage and track your commercial vehicle inspections to help ensure they are performed on time, every time.
