The California State Legislature has passed AB 529 revamping the CHP’s commercial truck safety program commonly referred to as the B.I.T. or Basic Inspection of Terminals program.  The biggest change impacting truck maintenance is that effective January 1st, 2016 all commercial motor vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 pounds or greater now require a bumper to bumper safety inspection or “B.I.T.” inspection every 90 days.
