The results are out from the CVSA’s International Roadcheck that took place May 4-6, 2021 across North America. There were 19,786 Level I inspections that took place in the US. A Level I inspection is a comprehensive vehicle and driver review performed roadside and at weigh stations. Of those inspections, 4,136 (20.9%) vehicles were placed out of service as well as 1,083 (5.5%) drivers. The top 5 vehicle out of service violations were brake systems, tires, lights, brake adjustment and cargo securement. To mitigate exposure and being placed out of service, preventative maintenance is part of the foundation of any solid maintenance program; it’s the first step in keeping safe, compliant and reliable fleets on the road.
